Dr. Nishit Aman, a Postdoctoral Researcher under Assoc. Prof. Sirima Panyametheekul in the Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering has won the best paper award at the FengYun Satellite User Conference 2023. The conference was organized by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and China National Space Administration (CNSA) at Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China from 13-15 November 2023. Dr. Nishit’s paper was titled “Spatiotemporal estimation of hourly PM2.5 using Fengyun-4A/AGRI-based AOD and machine learning models for Greater Bangkok” which was based on his postdoctoral research work at The Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand.
At the conference, Dr. Nishit also participated as an invited panelist in the roundtable discussion with other international delegates to discuss their experiences of using Fengyun satellite data and how to promote its uses across various countries and various application areas to mitigate the impacts of climate change, air pollution, and other environmental-related issues. The roundtable discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. Zhang Peng (Deputy Director-General of the National Satellite Meteorological Center, CMA).
In his current research work at Chulalongkorn University, he is using satellite-based, and model-generated datasets with machine learning/artificial intelligence technologies to develop computational frameworks for predictions and mitigation strategies of PM2.5 in Greater Bangkok.
We extend our congratulations to him for this accomplishment and express our best wishes for the ongoing success of his valuable research endeavors.
